Mark D. Vaughn attended Wheaton College as a third generation student, graduating in 1985.  He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Wake Forest University in 1988.  Mark is a member of the Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law section of the North Carolina Bar Association, and has served on its Council as well as several committees of the section and Bar Association.

For over twenty years, Mark has limited his practice to estate and trust planning and administration.  In addition to drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney and related documents, Mark has assisted clients with estate and gift tax planning matters, charitable and planned gifting, the formation of private foundations, and multigenerational planning strategies.

After the loss of a family member, dealing with complex legal, financial and tax details is often overwhelming.  Competent and caring assistance during this time is invaluable.  Estate and trust administration requires the constant monitoring of detailed asset activity, coordinating valuation, liquidity needs, considering income and estate tax issues, timing distributions and administrative expense deductions, etc.  Mark meets daily with his two full-time paralegals, each having over twenty years of experience assisting clients with estate and trust administration.

Careful coordination with other professionals, such as accountants and investment advisors, is essential to both the planning and administration of estates and trusts.  Sharing information and ideas with all the client's advisors is encouraged, while preserving the independence and integrity of the attorney-client relationship.
